The HSBC Malta Foundation renewed its annual support towards L-Istrina, organised by the Malta Community Chest Fund with a donation of €100,000. The donation was presented to President George Abela during a classical music recital at San Anton Palace in Attard. Local soprano Gillian Zammit accompanied by pianist Lucia Micallef performed a set of Francesco Paolo Tosti’s compositions to an audience of distinguished guests.

“I thank the HSBC Malta Foundation for yet again extending its solidarity and support. As the main sponsor of L-Istrina, the Foundation’s support goes a long way in helping the Malta Community Chest Fund achieve its goal to help children and families going through troubling experiences,” said President Abela upon being presented with the donation by HSBC Malta outgoing CEO Alan Richards.

This €100,000 donation is apart from another €26,000 in financial support that HSBC Malta Foundation gives to MCCF for various activities during the year. These include the President’s visit to Maltese patients in the UK, the August Moon Ball, Rockestra Concert, HSBC Staff Triathlon Challenge, and ponsiettas sale in aid of MCCF is being organised for the first time this year by HSBC Staff. Furthermore, HSBC gave two paintings from its bank collection to raise further funds during L-Istrina Auction. Apart from the financial aspect, these activities serve as an important contribution towards raising further and constant awareness about the Malta Community Chest Fund and its role in assisting persons in difficult and very trying situations.

Under the Foundation’s aegis, HSBC staff also volunteer to assist during the actual L-Istrina marathon TV programme.

This is the second consecutive year that HSBC Malta Foundation is donating to €100,000 to L-Istrina.
