Accusations of racism and appeals for “compassion” by Albert Cilia Vincenti and Ray Azzopardi in Times of Malta are nothing but smoke-screen shaming tactics driven by avoidance and diversion. Co-opting the moral high ground and disparaging “discrimination” – which is nothing but a man’s capacity to pick and choose his own destiny – is an act of incivility towards one’s own people and the country we all call “home”.

Compassion is the handmaiden of integrity, but compassion put before integrity is suicidal. To please indiscriminately is to do destructive things, and a man who tries to please everybody ends up pleasing nobody. The continent of Europe was founded on and developed through institutions and traditions of Caucasian stock. We court our own destruction if we adopt policies to please other cultures which – through excessive and illegal immigration – violate our liberties and way of life.

There is a distinction between tolerating difference on the one hand, and on the other allowing your population to be so fundamentally altered and subsumed by another that its cherished values might be voted or interpreted out of existence.

Neither the good will nor the material resources of any civilisation are unlimited. We cannot support the whole of Africa on our standard of living, and unless we conserve the product of our culture and understand that charity begins at home, we will suffer the fate of the American Indian, who was made a refugee in his native land. A man who loves all countries and all cultures as much as he loves his own is like a man who loves all women as much as he loves his wife. He merits suspicion.

Appeasement invites encroachment, and the more we excuse it, the more encroachment we will be made to suffer. Keep an open door policy for too long, and watch as the barrage of cultural prospectors will soon make it impossible to close the door ever again.
