Vassallo Group celebrated its 70th anniversary with the third annual Shine Awards night at the Manoel Theatre – which saw a number of people being presented awards for excellence in various areas of operation and for overall performance. These included awards for Best Customer Focus, Green Initiatives, Best Project and Service Quality.

Other awards were given out for efforts and initiatives in health and safety, training and development, debt collection, cleanliness of company vehicle and the implementation of the 3Rs philosophy within the company.

Awards were also distributed to Best Employee, Best Supervisor and Best Manager, as well as to Best Arkati Foundation Ambassador. The foundation is an internal charity within the group which helps employees going through hard times due to illness or other situations.

Chairman Nazzareno Vassallo touched on the group’s main achievements throughout the years in a number of areas in which it operates. He also listed the challenges over the next few years, particularly in view of projects it has embarked on or will be tackling shortly. These include investment in student accommodation, hotels, other commercial and residential property and the opening of a new industrial park. The group will also be opening its very first home for people with disability in Mosta later this year, while also expanding its catering operations.

The event was presented by TV personality Joseph Chetcuti, who also played a number of classical musical pieces during the evening.

The night ended with the announcement of the chairman’s awards for this year. These were given to Silvio Fenech, a works manager with Vassallo Builders, and Denise Tierney, personal sssistant to CareMalta’s CEO. Both Mr Fenech and Mrs Tierney were awarded for their long service and their loyalty throughout the years.

The Shine Awards 2016 came to an end with a reception by the group’s catering arm, Cateressence.
