Andrew Grech (no.1) and Roberta Schembri (no.395) were the winners of the opening leg of the 2015 Nestle Fitness Malta International Challenge Marathon, yesterday. The first stage consisted of an 11.1km run that took runners from Mdina Gate to Dingli and back. Grech topped the race ahead of Charlton Debono and Keith Galea. Schembri confirmed her good form of late after winning the women’s stage. Today’s second leg will be held in Birżebbuġa – a 6km run finishing in the town’s parish square. The three-day marathon comes to a close tomorrow with a 25km race from St Paul’s Bay to Parliament Square in Valletta.
