Ġiġi the rabbit stunned his owner yesterday during the annual Fur and Feather show, when he escaped from his exhibition cage and swam across a large pond at San Anton Gardens to a rocky islet from where he enjoyed some adoring attention from visitors to the show. The rabbit’s owner, Felix Farrugia, vice president of the Malta Rabbit Club, said he was shocked when he turned up early in the morning to find Ġiġi wet and sitting in the middle of the pond. Ġiġi helped himself to an apple and other treats that Mr Farrugia threw over to him and was collected later in the day.
