Tanya Gravina, events co-ordinator and a UEFA dele-gates/referees observer within the Malta FA set-up, has re-cently concluded an 18-month course relating to European Sport Governance.

Gravina, also involved in MFA’s projects for the improvement of sports facilities for clubs and member asso-ciations, was one of 19 candi-dates from several countries to have received their Executive Master in European Sport Gov-ernance (MESGO) certificate at a ceremony at the House of European Football, in Nyon, Switzerland.

This was an inaugural course in a programme which centres on sports governance in the current-day sporting world and which has UEFA’s full backing.

It was established by a number of academic bodies based in several prestigious universities and institutions in different European countries.

As well as UEFA, other team sport partners, such as the handball and basketball fed-erations in Europe, the Euro-pean Rugby Association and the European Volleyball Fed-eration, are also supporting this initiative.

They will be joined for the upcoming second edition of this scheme by the International Ice Hockey Federation.

The MESGO is designed to assist decision-makers in adapting to modern day realities and demands and is open to experienced managers and executives working in international European and national sports federations.

It also involves clubs, leagues and trade unions, European institutions and governments and partners of sporting organisations such as media or sponsors.
