Just over €29,500 worth of medicines was retrieved from pharmacies in Gozo last month after serious doubts arose as to the ambience in the contractor’s carriage of the medicines on June 4.

Health Minister Joseph Cassar told Labour MP Gino Cauchi, in reply to a parliamentary question, the decision was taken responsibly to safeguard patients’ health.

Also in June there had been €893.32 worth of expired or damaged medicines retrieved, as well as €439.72 worth of medicines for redistribution to other pharmacies.
