A 75-year-old Gozitan, accused of resisting three police officers after a fight with a family member on Monday, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The officers were called in after Giuseppe Xuereb, of Għajnsielem, had an argument with a family member, who lived in his same apartment block, the police said.

He also pleaded not guilty to disobeying police orders, threatening the officers and harassing his relative. Magistrate Paul Coppini granted him bail against a personal guarantee of €500. He also issued a protection order covering the victim and the officers.
