More than 1.1 million passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo in the second quarter of this year, an increase of 71,000 people compared with the same period last year.

The number of vehicles carried by the Gozo ferries between April and June went up by seven per cent, totalling 293,446, which was an increase of more than 19,000 compared with 2012.

The number of ferry trips carried out over the same period stood at 4,792. This was 50 more, or a 1.1 per cent rise, over the corresponding period last year.
