The Government’s doors are still open for the Opposition and anybody else who wants to strive for the country’s benefit, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told Parliament in reply to a question by Nationalist MP Chris Said.

Dr Muscat said the Government’s positive attitude was intended to rope in anybody who could contribute. It was working to involve all sectors for progress on all crucial issues, with less partisanship and more cooperation in the national interest.

In this legislature the Government would continue to search for a way to convince the Opposition to adopt a less negative stance.

Dr Said had asked if the Prime Minister agreed with the proposal to reinstate the Opposition Nominees Act, rescinded in 1996-98, which would provide a legal and transparent framework allowing the Opposition to participate.
