Several public entities and fund managers will get together tomorrow and Tuesday to present a range of funding schemes and opportunities currently available for the Maltese cultural and creative sectors.

The seminars are open to all operators – individual artists, commercial enterprises and voluntary organisations, and any other interested parties.

They will provide information on Maltese and European funding opportunities for cultural projects and creative enterprises, including details on five new initiatives launched this year.

These initiatives will facilitate further access to finance, audience development and professional creative growth.

The seminars also focus on best practices resources and tools for project development.

There will be four presentations: tomorrow at 5 p.m. – ‘Developing a successful project and proposal’, 6 p.m. – ‘Producing for children and youngpeople’; Tuesday at 10 a.m. – ‘Building and sustaining a creative enterprise’, 11 a.m. – ‘Leveraging national funds for EU projects’.

The first presentation will give an overview of the basic building blocks of a cultural project and the essential resources that add value to a project.

The second focuses on Kreattiv, Il-Premju tal-President għall-Kreattività, and the Culture Card.

Many new opportunities are arising from these schemes targeted at schools and creative people working with younger audiences.

Tuesday’s first presentation will focus on Jeremie, Cre8 and Invex, the latest scheme for cultural organisations.

‘Leveraging national funds for EU projects’ will highlight the synergies between the Culture Programme, Malta Arts Fund, the Media programme, Film Fund and the Cultural Events Initiative Scheme for Local Councils.

A creative brokerage service will be offered parallel to the seminar programme. During these drop-in one-to-one meetings, funding experts will offer specific guidance to potential beneficiaries on project development and funding.

The seminars and brokerage service will take place at the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, Republic Street, Valletta. For more details and registration, call the Culture and Audiovisual Unit on 2291 5036 or e-mail sylvana.mercieca@gov.mt.

This event is organised by the Culture and Audiovisual Unit within the Parliamentary Secretariat for Tourism, the Environment and Culture in collaboration with the Creative Economy Working Group, Culture Contact Point, Media Desk, Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, Malta Enterprise, Meusac and BoV Jeremie Programme.
