The cliché “everyone loves a deal” has become genuine with the launch of the website – http://dealsmalta.com.mt – which aims to bring consumers the best discounted deals in Malta.

The public will have the chance of purchasing items for at least half the actual retail price.
The launch bargain is a special offer on smoothies, which will be followed by deals for half-price laser treatments, cup cakes, meals out and overnight accommodation.
The site is the brainchild of Irish entrepreneur Sharon Plunkett, who has been representing the Malta Tourism Authority in Ireland for the past 17 years.
“Malta has been my inspiration for so many years, I am delighted to be giving something back,” she said.
The smartphone-friendly site will operate from Dublin with a sales team based at the Allied Group in Malta, with a very straightforward concept.
Consumers register online for free and they will be e-mailed the deals every morning.
Anyone who wants to market their ware on the website can do so free of charge.
“Businesses only incur a cost, in the form of a cut, if there’s a deal,” said Ms Plunkett, who runs a similar Ireland-based site.
Several businesses that will offer their products said they were lured by the fact that this was a web-based marketing tool to promote business and get new clients.
John Winfield, Dr Juice director, said the Maltese market was “totally ready” for this. “In today’s economy, we are always looking for deals. It’s a fantastic way to build up customer loyalty.”
Allied Newspapers supports this enterprise and, according to executive director Adrian Hillman, this was a natural progression for the company.
“We are already marked as the leading brand online; our next step is to look at other ventures,” Mr Hillman said. He described http://dealsmalta.com.mt as a unique selling opportunity to attract business.
Irish publisher Nora Casey, a high-profile investor in the site, said she was sure it would be established very quickly as the “best deals website in the Mediterranean”.
