A 16-year-old girl was seriously injured after falling off her sulky when her horse collided with another in Żejtun yesterday.
The rider of the second horse was uninjured and both animals were unharmed, police sources said.
The light carriage the injured girl was on got detached from the harness on collision and she fell, cutting her scalp in the process.
The incident happened at about 7.15am in Żabbar Road, a meeting place for many horse enthusiasts who, on a Sunday mornings, race and ride in the area. Sources said the girl, from Żejtun, was an experienced rider and a great horse lover.
She was taken to hospital in an ambulance where her condition was reported to be serious but not critical.
