I refer to Alfred E. Baldacchino’s excellent defence of our environment, as usual, in the Talking Point entitled Trees, Rubble Walls And BSS (August 26).
May I add that contrary to all the publicity that is made with regard to new rubble walls, we have managed to destroy the art of building real rubble walls. Nowadays we just build concrete walls that are cladded in stones. We have managed to destroy the art of building rubble walls without the use of any cement that our forefathers were so capable of. The result is a falseness that is given the okay by everyone, including those that should be protecting our vernacular architecture.
