Franco Lolli’s 2014 directorial debut,Gente de Bien (Good Intentions) – a neo-realist drama about social and economic injustice in modern Latin America, will be screened at St James Cavalier Cinema, Valletta, tomorrow at 7.30pm.

The story revolves around Eric, a 10-year-old boy whose coming-of-age unfolds against hard times in Colombia.

When Eric moves in with his estranged father, Gabriel – a handyman who’s down on his luck and about to face eviction – it appears as though a sudden kindly gesture is about to turn the tides.

Moved by the family’s plight, Gabriel’s top client offers the pair a place to stay over the Christmas season, but socioeconomic differences soon begin to bubble to the surface at the luxurious country villa. Against this backdrop, the young Eric begins to discover what makes the world turn.

The film, in Spanish with English subtitles, will be screened tomorrow at 7.30pm at St James Cavalier, Valletta. It is certified 12A and is 86 minutes long. It is presented courtesy of the Honorary Consulate for Colombia and Spazju Kreattiv. For tickets, visit http://kreattivita.org .
