Gaulitana: A Festival of Music today presents a concert with the winners of the Concorso Lirico G. Rubini.

An established vocal competition held annually in Bergamo, Italy, under the artistic direction of Marzio Giossi, a well-known figure with local opera buffs, tonight’s performers are Celeste Bang (mezzo-soprano) and Bum Joo Lee (tenor), accompanied by Kim Bohye on piano.

They will be interpreting various operatic arias including O mio Fernando from La favorite by Gaetano Donizetti,  Ideale, Non t’amo più, and Non ti scordar di me by Francesco P. Tosti, Mon coeur s’ouvre à ta voix from Samson and Delilah by Camille Saint-Saëns.

Well-known pieces in the programme for the evening are Puccini’s E lucevan le stelle and Nessun Dorma, Verdi’s Condotta ell’era in ceppi and Già i sacerdoti adunansi, Acerba volutta from Adriana Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea, Cielo e mar from La Gioconda by Amilcare Ponchielli and also Charles Gounod’s O ma lyre immortelle from Sapho.

■ The concert is being held this evening at the Gozo Ministry Hall in Victoria at 7.30pm. Entrance is free.
