Nicky Gauci continued with his racing experience outside the country after figuring in the sixth round of the 2016 Rotax 125 Max Challenge at the Circuito Internazionale Di Triscina, Sicily, on Sunday.

Gauci, 15, placed third in the official qualifying with a time of 50.939secs, just 0.043s away from first place.

In Race One, Gauci, who was making his debut in Triscina, sped to the first corner attaining the lead. It was no easy race, with his rivals hot on his heels but Gauci defended his position well to complete the first race in first place.

Gauci started Race Two on pole but dropped down to third place before incurring a 10-second penalty that affected his final position in the overall classification at race completion.

Gauci was complemented for his performance by members of the other competing teams.

Most of them reckoned he deserved to be on the podium, a place he hopes to attain in his next race.
