The Lotteries and Gaming Authority has asked the police to start criminal proceedings against Mowjow Gaming Ltd over breach of remote gaming regulations.

Mowjow Gaming and Mowjow Technology Ltd, based in the UK with offices in Mensija Street, San Ġwann, also had their licences to operate in Malta suspended.

The gaming watchdog said the companies’ licences had been suspended because they had breached the laws governing remote gaming.

It said it had not licensed the website www.mowjow.com.

Asked why criminal action was deemed necessary, a spokesman said the gaming authority was bound not to give further details.
