A 22-year-old man who works for a betting company was conditionally discharged after pleading guilty to climbing on top of a car in Sliema while drunk and damaging it.

Sources said that Claes Fredrik Brannlund, a Swede who resides in Gżira, caused damage to the bonnet and roof of the car in Rudolph Street during the early hours of Saturday.

Police Inspector Jason Francis Sultana told Magistrate Audrey Demicoli that the accused had already paid for the cost of the damage, which was estimated at between €116.47 and €1,164.47.

Mr Brannlund also admitted to breaching the peace, using obscene and indecent language and being drunk in public.

Lawyer Jason Grima represented the accused in court.
