Maltese guitarist Marc Galea will be launching the album Easy Dialogue at the Music Room at St James Cavalier, Valletta, on June 4.

The album is his first full-length release and reflects the various changes in his musical influences since the release of his debut EP, My Journey, back in 2007.

“I feel my style has evolved in many ways; to some extent you might even say it has been haunted by jazz, which I consider to be the pure art of improvisation,” Galea commented. Work on the new album started around two years ago, during which time Galea has had the opportunity to collaborate with several prominent musicians from the local jazz scene.

Apart from the quartet that will be playing during the album launch, other jazz musicians, namely Dominic Galea, Walter Vella, Adrian Galea, Mario Abela and Adrian ‘Russu’ Brincat, feature on the album.

Apart from being a solo artist, Galea is also an internationally recognised guitar tutor – he achieved the RGT Guitar Tutor of the Year Finalist Award in 2008 and 2009 consecutively – and a popular session guitarist.

He has been working within the local music scene since 2002 and has participated in several music events.

In recent years, Galea has collaborated with several acclaimed guitar players, among them Luigi Tessarollo, Gordon Giltrap, John Wheatcroft, Neil Murray and Phil Hilborne.

Easy Dialogue will be launched during a live performance featuring Mro Paul Abela, Alan Portelli and Joe ‘Bibi’ Camilleri alongside Galea.

The quartet will play original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards covering various jazz styles from swing and Latin to funk and fusion.

The event will be filmed as part of the Music Memory Project Annual M3P Conference.

Tickets for the event cost €7, and the album will available at the special price of €5 on the night.
