GO plc will shortly be launching 4G+ mobile internet, capable of delivering vastly improved download and upload speeds. 4G+ means these higher speeds will also be maintained even when a lot of people are connecting at once.
4G+ works by bringing together more than one 4G frequency. As a result, the maximum download and upload speeds are multiple times faster than the current 4G speeds. The use of multiple frequencies also increases network capacity. This ensures speeds remain very high, regardless of the demand.
GO plc CEO Yiannos Michaelides, said: “4G+ will bring a further significant improvement to the mobile internet experience. GO’s foresight in investing in a fibre-connected mobile internet infrastructure has enabled this development at a time when demand for mobile data for entertainment and to remotely manage multiple domestic and business devices continues to grow significantly.”
In addition to the various field tests to be carried out in early 2017, the launch of 4G+ will also require the necessary allocation of spectrum by the Regulator. Once this process is complete, GO will be in a position to rapidly roll out 4G+ nationwide.
