Għeriexem fountain, one of the many fountains forming part of the old Roman water system in the Rabat area, was recently inaugurated after three years of careful restoration.

Over the centuries, there have been numerous reports about the misuse and malfunction of the fountain, which was taken care of by the Knightsof St John.

The foundation, situated on the arterial road leading from the Domus Romana to the Nigret zone, was restored through the support of Volksbank Malta after the Rabat council made an appeal.

The inauguration of the fountain included the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, speeches by former Rabat mayor Sandro Craus, art historian Fr John Azzopardi and Volksbank Malta director Joseph Bugelli.
