On the occasion of Għanafest 2013, traditional music will be played during a special Mass, which will be celebrated by Fr Maurice Mifsud at Loreto church in Gudja today at 9am.

The opening music will feature the żaqq and tanbur. In the past, these instruments were played in chapels during special functions, such as at Christmas Eve Mass.

The Agnus Dei will be interpreted in the traditional għana style, while the offertory will be sung in the għana fil-għoli style. Songs sung during Holy Communion will be accompanied by the prejjem tal-minore, while Mass will end with thanksgiving għana.

The Mass will be broadcast live on TVM2.
