The Mensija Circle of the Catenian Association is holding its annual President’s Charity event on January 27 at the monastery of the Ursuline Sisters in St Ursula Street, Valletta.

This charity chosen this year by the president, Joseph  Pace, is Caritas Malta, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Mass at 6pm will be celebrated by the circle’s chaplain, Fr Savio Vella, SDB, and Mgr Charles Cordina. The nuns will be singing hymns during Mass under the direction of their maestro di cappella, Mark Agius.

A reception in the undercroft of the monastery will follow, during which a cheque will be presented to Caritas.

Those attending are being asked to make a donation of €15 per person by sending a cheque to John Psaila, 402, ‘The Metropole’, Dingli Street, Sliema SLM 1902; mobile: 9947 2442.

A free shuttle service will be running from 5 to 6 pm from near the Hotel Phoenicia to the Ursuline convent in Valletta, and from there back to Floriana after 9pm.

Bookings should be made with Mr Psaila by January 24.
