The supply of fruit and vegetables between July and September dropped by more than four per cent when compared with the same period last year.
However, despite the drop in supply, the stock’s wholesale value increased by 3.4 per cent to nearly €5 million.
National Statistics Office figures showed more than 12 million kilograms of fruit and vegetables were supplied.
The volume of fresh vegetables fell by 3.1 per cent to 11.4 million kilograms over the same period in 2012 and their wholesale value rose by four per cent to €4.1 million.
Fresh fruit supplies dropped by almost 19 per cent while their wholesale value declined by 0.1 per cent to €0.7 million.
