It was reported (October 21) that Jonathan Benton, a former head of a United Kingdom anti-corruption agency, suggested, when speaking on BBC radio, that the FBI’s international corruption unit should be invited to be involved in a wider investigation of the Bidnija assassination, including connections with money laundering. At the same time, the Prime Minister has vowed he will not rest before the culprits are brought to justice.

It is not only possible but also most probable that the person who commissioned the execution is one of those mentioned in Daphne Caruana Galizia’s blog. The next step, obvious to all, is for the Prime Minister to give an open mandate to the FBI international corruption unit to investigate whether such a connection exists, starting, for our peace of mind, from the politically exposed individuals mentioned in the blog.

As our Archbishop said, we must now move from words to action. The ball is in the Prime Minister’s court. There is no time to lose; all Malta is waiting. If this is not done, we will draw our own conclusions.
