The former human resources manager at the Water Services Corporation filed a judicial protest claiming he was unjustly transferred from his post in May last year and later given the job of meter reader.

His job, he said, was given to Pauline Lanzon, who was then the secretary of the chairman.

Emanuel Galea filed the protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court against the Water Services Corporation and the Principle Permanent Secretary.

He said he worked at the corporation since 1986, starting off as a clerk and working his way up the ladder to become HR manager in 2007.

On May 27, 2013 (two months after the general elections), he said he was removed from his role for no reason. Claiming discrimination, he said there were no pending disciplinary proceedings against him or any other justification to remove him from his post.

Mr Galea said he took the matter to the minister responsible and to the Prime Minister but was not given a solution. The situation caused psychological stress and he went on sick leave.

He did not work for over a year, during which time he was paid his salary. On his insistence, he was offered the role of senior executive, as long as he dropped his claims, but he insisted he would retain his right to take action against the injustice.

Last September he was assigned a job similar to that of a WSC meter reader.

In the protest he insisted that the necessary action should be taken to ensure his rights were respected.

Lawyer Andrew Borg Cardona signed the protest.
