Artworks by students aged between three and 18 years are on display as part of the Biennale of the Verdala International School in Pembroke.

The exhibition has been described as a visual pedagogical journey from kinder through to young adult-hood. Themes vary from giant cocoa pods, a sculpted horse and colourful circus characters, to flowers inspired by the work of Georgia O’Keefe, fish prints and Picasso-esque self-portraits.

The concepts behind the artworks deal with identity, the environment and personal concerns issues relevant to any adolescent today.

“Verdala’s art vision is to facilitate creativity in all young people through a variety of media, hands-on workshops and fun art activities,” art teachers Sarah Proudler and Nancy Generelli said.

The exhibition, at the Malta Institute of Management building (opposite Sprachcafe in Pembroke), runs until Monday. Opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Monday to Friday or by appointment on 9988 5160/2137 5133/2137 4285 or via e-mail at proudler@onvol.net.
