So, thanks to President George Abela who voiced the people’s displeasure at the “mistakes” which appeared on the charge sheet of the three policemen and bouncer accused of assaulting a young foreign student, it was established that there are no grounds for “double jeopardy”! Therefore these four individuals are going to face the court charged with assault.

Are the three policemen suspended while they are awaiting trial? Has the bouncer been taken off the job while he too is awaiting trial?

I further beg to ask whether or not the same rule of lack of “double jeopardy”can be applied to Francisco Scerri aka/Godwin former priest who was charged with raping a boy at St Joseph’s, Ħamrun and has had this charge dismissed because the charge sheet stated that this henious crime took place in Marfa and not in Ħamrun!

Furthermore, are the public servants who made the “mistakes” on the charge sheets on both occasions being held accountable?

Is there any chance of these persons being sacked from this responsible position or at the very least, are these persons being seriously questioned by the authorities as to how they managed to make these serious mistakes in the charge sheets of the four alleged attackers and of the convicted child sex abuser?

Are there any moves afoot to ensure that these “mistakes” do not occur in the future and thus get criminals off the hook and let loose among society? Will the people on the island in the sun observe pigs flying overhead before the above questions are answered by the “competent” authorities?
