The Alliance Française de Malte Méditerranée is organising French Film Days between this month and May 2018 with the support of  Spazju Kreattiv, the French Embassy in Malta and the Institut Français.

The first film – 9 Mois Ferme (9 Month Stretch, 2013) – kicks off today, starring Sandrine Kiberlain, Albert Dupontel, Nicolas Marie, Philippe Duquesne, Yolande Moreau, Philippe Uchan, Laure Calamy and Jean Dujardin.

The film, in French, with English subtitles, is the story of  40-year-old, unmarried, high-powered judge Ariane Felder (Sandrine Kiberlaine) who lets her hair down at the firm’s New Year’s eve party only to discover six months later that she is pregnant.

Not only is she unable to remember what happened on the evening in question, but she has no idea who the father of her child is. Worse is to come when a DNA test reveals he is Bob Nolan (Albert Dupontel), an ex-con who was recently arrested on a grisly murder charge and goes by the name of ‘eye gobbler’ (Prescott Judith).

The film is being screened today at St James Cavalier, Valletta, at 7.30pm. Entrance is free but booking is required on www.kreattivita.org.
