A seasonal influenza vaccine is now available free from all public health centres and most local council offices.

A number of family doctors will also be providing the vaccination to those over 55, children between six and 59 months and all chronic disease sufferers.

ID cards or immunisation record books must be produced to qualify.

Those under 55 and suffering from chronic diseases of the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, diabetes mellitus and any other immunodeficiency conditions are also eligible. They must present their schedule V control card or a recent medical certificate.

Carers of people who cannot leave home can call the MMDNA offices on 2138 7526 from 11am-12.30pm and 2pm-3.30pm Monday to Saturday.
