Seventy-five years ago, the Nazis dropped bombs also on Wine Wharf, Marsa just below the Franciscan church in Floriana. They demolished the warehouses of H & G Simonds numbers one to eight, in Pinto Road and warehouses nine to 15 that belonged to Giovanni Dacoutros. That was the day when most beer and wine flowed into the sea in Grand Harbour, as shown in the book Ships, wine and wars.
