England’s Claudia Fragapane (picture) has won her fourth gold of the Commonwealth Games after she claimed the individual floor title at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro.

The 16-year-old produced a strong routine that was full of expression to score 14.541 and take the title, which will add to her individual all-around, vault and team success.

Standing at just 4ft 5in tall, Fragapane has belied her diminutive size to become one of the stars of the Games, lighting up the arena with a series of dazzling displays.

Her final appearance in the floor showpiece did not disappoint as she saw off the challenge of Australia’s Lauren Mitchell who claimed silver while Canada’s Ellie Black won bronze.

Fragapane was the sixth gymnast to compete and moved into a clear lead over Mitchell, who scored 13.833, with Black achieving 13.666.

Wales’s Jessica Hogg took an early lead before Mitchell moved into gold medal position.

Canada’s Stefanie Merkle went into second before England’s Hannah Whelan finished outside of the top three with a routine of 13.133, with newly crowned all-around champion Fragapane the next to compete.

The tumbling teenager made her complex routine look easy and she stormed to the top of the standings with two gymnasts left to perform.

Black’s challenge faded away before New Zealand’s Charlotte Sullivan wrapped up the final with a seventh-placed finish.

Meanwhile, Scotland’s Dan Purvis finished off his Commonwealth Games by upgrading to gold after he won a dramatic men’s parallel bars final.

The 23-year-old Purvis, who already had team silver and rings bronze under his belt, produced a stunning routine which scored 15.533 to take the title ahead of England’s Nile Wilson.

Wilson won silver with 15.433, while floor, all-around and team champion Max Whitlock, also of England, had to settle for a bronze medal with 15.066.
