The 2011/12 Strickland Cup will see the participation of four Division Three teams after Qrendi and Marsaskala joined Swieqi United and Mtarfa, the two clubs that contested last year’s edition.

Details about this year’s Strickland Cup, starting today at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, were given during a news conference at the MFA headquarters a few days ago.

While reaffirming the Malta FA’s support for this initiative, Mark Attard, the MFA Branding and Communications Officer, said that the association welcomed the addition of two new clubs in the tournament.

Michael Calleja, secretary of Swieqi United, noted how in the past, the concept of a Christmas tournament was very common in Maltese football.

He thanked Roger Strickland Jr. for his contribution in making this tournament possible.

Programme
