Two men were yesterday charged with human trafficking and importation of cannabis by sea, while a father and son were charged with importing and trafficking cannabis.

José Xerry, 45, from Naxxar and Michael Aquilina, 39, from Mosta, are accused of charges including conspiracy to import, importation, trafficking and possession of cannabis.

The men were also charged with transporting illegal migrants and conspiring to commit the crime. Mr Xerry was further charged with threatening the father and son, from Mellieħa and Attard respectively, who were charged separately with conspiring to import cannabis and trafficking the drug.

Mr Aquilina was charged with drug trafficking and conspiring to import cannabis and with human trafficking.
