Malta will be represented by four players at the 2012 IBSF World Snooker Championships in Sofia next month.

Alex Borg, Duncan Bezzina, Simon Zammit and Roberta Cutajar will be making the trip to Bulgaria along with referee Ambrose Licari to take part in the tournament which gets under way on December 2.

A record 191 players from 47 countries will compete in the tournament which will be played at the Sofia Princess Hotel.

Borg and Bezzina will compete in the men’s championship with an entry field of 100 cueists.

Players were split in 20 groups of five each with the top three progressing to the knock-out stages.

Zammit will be among 50 players for the Masters category. They were pitted into 10 groups of five players each, with the top three reaching the next phase.

Cutajar will play in the women’s tournament which will be contested by 41 players. There will be eight groups here with the top three progressing to the KO phase.
