Alternative rock band Forty Days of Rain have just released their second single, Everything You Want. The track, which in this past week climbed to the number one spot on the Maltese PRS charts, follows debut single Strings Left to Fray, which attracted very positive feedback and hit the number one on Bay’s Top 10 list for three weeks.

“String Left to Fray was actually the first song we started working on as a band in December. Even though we released it some time ago, it’s still played at least once daily on most stations as we’re still charted halfway on the PRS chart,” band vocalist and guitarist Brendan Jackson said.

The track went straight to the charts’ top spot

Jackson describes the new track as “a simple song”, adding that US musician Tom Petty famously said that the best songs don’t have more than three chords. “Ours has four, so we’re quite close. The lyrics are about admitting that you’re wrong in a relationship and if you really care about that person, doing whatever it takes to make things right. A little generic and soppy I know, but like I said it’s a simple song and I wanted simple lyrics for it. I’ll leave my trademark cryptic lyrics for another time,” the singer said.

While Forty Days of Rain has its own distinctive sound, the band list Foo Fighters as one of their main inspirations. “We all have varied tastes, but that band seems to be the common denominator of this band. We admire their capability to re-invent themselves on every album and founder and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl is just Dave Grohl,” Jackson says. The band has also just released a music video to accompany Everything You Want.
