Seventeen rooms which used to form part of the barracks at Għajn Tuffieħa were yesterday handed over to the Majjistral Park management.

The official handover ceremony was held in the presence of volunteers from Pricewaterhousecoopers which organised a clean-up of the area. Squatters had been removed from the area three years ago, and the rooms will be transformed into a visitors’ centre and adventure village.

The handover documents were signed by Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi, responsible for public lands, and park director Ian Castaldi Paris.
