Led from the bench by Sergey Markoch, the All Stars selection showed what mettle they are made of when they beat Malta 15-8 in yesterday’s warm-up practice match for the Maltese national team ahead of the Euro Championships’ second qualifying tournament, starting on Thursday.
The foreigners selection ability to score off shots from rapid cross-passes proved to be their trump card.
Karl Izzo’s team only stayed in the game until midway in the third session.
The All Stars led 2-1 after the first session but Malta turned it round when winning the second session 5-3.
A surge in the third quarter and more of the same in the last put the contest beyond Malta’s reach.
For the All Stars, Valletta’s Milos Korolija was the top scorer with four goals, followed by Vojislav Cupic, who plays for Exiles, with three.
