Recently on a flight to Dublin I noticed that despite having the seat belt sign switched on, cabin crew carried on with their in-flight service. Coming back to Malta the same thing occurred: the seat belt sign was switched on and passengers were told that they could not get up even for the restroom while the cabin crew carried on serving. They served boiling coffee and had a trolley from which they dispensed food and drinks. Should there have been turbulence, as the seat belt sign suggested, the trolley and boiling water could have harmed the crew and passengers alike.

I therefore informed Ryanair and received an e-mail whose climax was that “... I wish to advise that the cabin crew are trained to work in different flying conditions, to be able to assist our passengers throughout the whole flight and I wish to confirm that they are olso (sic) trained to offer bar service during the flight when it’s safe to do so”.

While passengers like myself welcome the time when the crew sell drinks, I don’t believe sales should be more important than safety and such practices should be revised.
