Stick No Bills is the title of the new single from local Christian rock band Footprints. Written by Hilary Spiteri, the song was launched last week as part of the Stick No Bills campaign involving Aġenzija Sedqa and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and the band itself.

The song highlights the gruesome consequences that substance abuse brings with it. More importantly however, it also condemns the labels society tends to put on people who have been through hard times in their lives, be it because of subtance abuse or otherwise.

Apart from the single, the Stick No Bills initiative stakeholders have also collaborated with Take 2 Entertainment to produce an accompnaying music video. Apart from promoting the initiative further, the video will also serve as an educational tool during the promotional visits and talks that Aġenzija Sedqa gives at schools, youth organisations and in the community itself.

The idea to write the song and become involved in the Stick No Bills initiative came to Footprints after the band perfomed at a rehabilitation centre for victims of substance abuse.

“We felt the need to get involved in raising awareness, not only about the problem of drug abuse, but also about the humane aspect and the difficulties faced by those who succumb, not only while they are kicking the habit, but also as they try to rehabilitate themselves in our society.”

As part of the Stick No Bills campaign, Footprints will also be performing two concerts, the first of which will take place today at 7pm at Independence Gardens in Sliema, with the second being held on June 23 at Pretty Bay in Birżebbuġa.

The band would thanked Jareth Grima and Denise Chetcuti from Aġenzija Sedqa and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, Larissa and Stephanie Aquilina and Manolito Galea of Litos’ Place Studios, where the track was recorded.

The Stick No Bills project was funded by the European Union Programmes Agency under the Youth in Action programme Youth Initiative 1.2.
