Brendan Rodgers’s new deal as Celtic boss has kept the feel-good factor going at Parkhead, according to James Forrest.

The Northern Irishman arrived in Glasgow on a one-year rolling contract last summer but on Friday he signed a new deal which keeps him at Parkhead until 2021.

Forrest believes the decision by the former Liverpool boss to commit to the club for four more years has given everyone a boost.

The 25-year-old said: “He didn’t tell us, we only heard as we left training. But all the boys are happy and so are the staff.

“A few of us have signed a new deal this season so for him to sign up for the same length of time, it just continues the buzz about the place.”

Kasperczak fired by Tunisia

Tunisia fired coach Henryk Kasperczak after discussions over an amicable settlement of his contract stalled.

The federation had been in talks to negotiate an early termination to the 70-year-old’s contract even though Tunisia top their World Cup qualifying group. But with no settlement agreed, the former Poland international was fired.

“It was not possible to find common ground and therefore we decide on a unilateral separation,” the Tunisian Football Federation said.

Tunisia soccer officals said Kasperczak had not made sufficient progress with the team despite leading them to the quarter-finals of the African Nations Cup in January.

Lewandowski to play against Real

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti allayed fears over the shoulder of Robert Lewandowski injury after his side’s 4-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.

The Poland striker scored twice against his former club before being forced off following a collision with Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki.

Bayern host Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday but Ancelotti provided good news for his team’s supporters.

“Lewy sustained a bruise, but the medical unit says it’s no problem with regard to Wednesday,” the Bayern boss said.

Beerman plays as Gers beat Dons

Myles Beerman played the full match for Rangers as the Glasgow side scored three late goals to beat Aberdeen 3-0 in the Scottish Premier League.

After his bright showing in the midweek goalless draw at Kilmarnock, manager Pedro Caixinha kept faith with the Malta U-21 defender as the Gers revived their hopes of catching the second-placed Dons in the standings

Kenny Miller's double and a Joe Dodoo strike gave Rangers a comfortable victory at Pittodrie as they reduced the gap to nine points.

Defeat unfair says Barca coach

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique lamented an “unfair” 2-0 defeat at Malaga, where Brazil forward Neymar was sent off.

Sandro netted on the break against his former club and substitute Jony Rodriguez added another after Neymar saw red for a second booking.

Enrique said: “The result was unfair. We tried everything, but it did not come through. However, I am delighted by the attitude of the players. There is still a long way to go in the league.”

As regards tomorrow’s Champions League match against Juventus, Enrique said” “These are different competitions, and we will try to impose ourselves against these difficulties.”

Sydney get groundbreaking help

Sydney FC received a helping hand from a video assistant referee in a world first on Saturday but it was still not enough for a 20th win of the season for the runaway A-League leaders.

The A-League is trial ling the video assistant over the final two rounds of the regular season and the playoffs that follow.

Referee Shaun Evans deferred a penalty decision to video assistant referee Jarred Gillet, who confirmed the offence and striker Bobo stepped up to convert the spot-kick to give Sydney FC a 1-0 lead.

Phoenix equalised through Michael McGlinchey in stoppage time.

Sydney have suffered just one defeat in 26 matches this season.
