Celtic manager Ronny Deila will leave at the end of the season despite almost certainly leading them to the Scottish Premier League title, the club said.

Norwegian Deila secured a league and cup double last year in his first season in charge and they are eight points clear of Aberdeen with five games to play.

News of his imminent departure comes a few days after Celtic lost to arch-rivals Rangers on a shoot-out in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

“The club, as always, will give Ronny our full support until the end of the season,” chairman Ian Bankier said

“We will then make a decision regarding our next manager with the objective of remaining Scotland’s pre-eminent club.”

Leeds director suspended by FA

Leeds United director Edoardo Cellino has been suspended from all football-related activity for three matches and fined by the Football Association (FA) after allegedly making abusive comments.

Cellino, son of the second tier club’s owner Massimo Cellino, was fined £5,000 for using abusive and/or insulting and/or improper language as it included a reference to disability, which is a breach of FA rules.

Cellino was also warned over his future conduct and must complete an education course within four months.

Mourinho, Ranieri accept charity roles

Jose Mourinho’s next managerial role has been revealed with the Portuguese leading ‘England’ against Claudio Ranieri’s ‘Rest of the World’ side as the former Chelsea bosses clash at Old Trafford on June 5 in a charity match for UNICEF.

Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea in December after a Premier League loss to Ranieri’s Leicester City, will have Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce in the dugout as his assistant.

“I want to be the first one to win the Soccer Aid trophy for both teams,” said Mourinho, who led the ‘Rest of the World’ to a 4-2 victory in 2014.

“Sam and I will make a good partnership and it will be a great feeling for Claudio to finally lose a match,” added the 53-year-old.

Wilshere not ready for West Brom

Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere will not be ready for today’s Premier League clash against West Brom but will be available for selection against Sunderland on Sunday, manager Arsene Wenger said.

The midfielder, who has not featured since fracturing his leg in the close season, scored while playing for the U-21s on Monday.

“He has had no setbacks and is getting better. He will be available after West Brom,” Wenger said.

“Overall the progression now should be normal and should be available against Sunderland.”

Neuer extends Bayern deal to 2021

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Ma-nuel Neuer has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the German champions until 2021.

The 30-year-old Germany number one, who joined Bayern from Schalke 04 five years ago, has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell in Bavaria that includes a Champions League triumph in 2013 as part of a treble-winning season.

“We are still in the running for all the titles and have the chance to win a lot this year,” Neuer said in a statement. “This is our short-term goal but also in the future.”

Neuer, who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany in Brazil, has also won the Bundesliga three times and the German Cup twice in his five years at Bayern.

Bilic won’t mind occasional dive

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic insists he will not address the subject of simulation with his players nor have any issues if they earn penalties by deceiving the referee.

While being awarded only two spot kicks in the Premier League this season, West Ham’s Champions League hopes have been hampered by the concession of seven penalties, with six of them being converted.

“I would like us to get a penalty but also we as a club don’t want to get that label (of divers). Occasionally, I wouldn’t mind it but I’m proud that we’re not that kind of club,” Bilic told British media.

Israel appoint Levy as national coach

Israel have named Elisha Levy as national team coach with the task of building a team for the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign after they failed to reach the Euro 2016 finals.

Levy, 58, was among five local candidates on a shortlist to replace Eli Guttman, who stepped down in October without getting Israel to a major tournament during his four-year spell.

The affable Levy has coached several Israeli clubs and won two league titles with Maccabi Haifa, once taking them to the Champions League group stages.

“Elisha Levy is experienced and has the strong personality and the calmness which the team re-quires,” IFA chief Ofer Eini said.
