Marcelo Brozovic could leave Inter in the January transfer window.

Arsenal and Chelsea have already shown interest in the Croatia midfielder who played for Dinamo Zagreb before joining the Italian club on loan in summer. Inter have an option to buy Brozovic for €8m.

According to reports, Inter have set a minimum price-tag of €15m even though negotiations would start at a higher mark.

Barcelona could also join the hunt for Brozovic but it seems that Arsenal, who tried to sign the player in summer, are leading the chase at the moment.

Post-match bust-up

Swansea captain Ashley Williams and Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez had to be separated following a post-match bust-up at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

The pair came together in a first-half incident when Swans captain Williams tried to wrestle the ball from Mahrez, who scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 win.

The pair were later involved in an altercation outside the Swansea dressing room, before the Algeria international was ushered out of the stadium by a Leicester official.

Williams brushed past re-porters a few moments later asking where the Leicester bus was and went outside the stadium to the visitors’ waiting coach. But reports said that he did not get on the bus before returning to the stadium.

Troubled Benzema earns Benitez praise

Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez had particular praise for Karim Benzema after the France forward struck twice to lead his team to a 4-1 win at home to Getafe in La Liga.

Benzema was almost back to his best with a couple of clinical finishes after a difficult few months disrupted by injury and his implication in a case of alleged blackmail.

“Karim’s two goals show that he is very important and that he makes those around him better,” Benitez told reporters.

“We talked about him scoring two goals and he achieved the objective that was set.”

Demirbay refs girls’ game as punishment

Fortuna Dusseldorf’s Kerem Demirbay got an unusual punishment for insulting a female referee when the second-tier club made him take charge of a girls’ game on Saturday.

The young Turk had told referee Bibi Steinhaus in last week’s game against FSV Frankfurt that women had no place in men’s football after being sent off.

On Saturday he was the referee in the D-junior match between Haan 06 and Langenfeld before posing with the teams for photos.

“This is what happens when young players make mistakes,” Fortuna said in a statement.

Howe hails Cherries’ biggest result

Glenn Murray’s late winner at Premier League champions Chelsea secured the “biggest result” in Bournemouth’s history on Saturday, according to manager Eddie Howe.

The 32-year-old journeyman striker had only been on the pitch for 90 seconds but was on hand to head in from close range from a corner.

It was Chelsea’s first Premier League home defeat in their last 44 games against a newly-promoted side – they had won 37 and drawn six before Saturday.

“We have never been in the Premier League before so when you come to the champions and beat them I think it must rank as the best result of the club’s history,” Howe said.

“Hopefully, it will be talked about for a long time to come.”

Ecuador orders Chiriboga arrest

Ecuador ordered the arrest of the president of its soccer federation, Luis Chiriboga, days after US officials announced that he was one of 16 people to be charged in connection with a multi-million dollar bribery scheme.

The judge also issued arrest warrants for two other federation officials. All three went voluntarily to speak with prosecutors after authorities froze their assets.

Chiriboga and another official were ordered to be held in house arrest, which is required by law because they are over 65, while the third was remanded into custody in prison.

Gloves off as keeper Frey retires

Former France international Sebastien Frey has announced his retirement from football.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper spent the majority of his career in Italy after leaving Cannes in 1998 and made over 200 appearances for Serie A side Fiorentina.

Frey, who also had spells with Inter and Parma, left Turkish outfit Bursaspor in the summer and was linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Bastia.

However, he announced on his Instagram account the decision to hang up his gloves.

“The time to say thank you arrived,” said Frey.

“Thank you all for having always supported me during my career, helping me to grow as a footballer and especially as a man.”
