Angel di Maria’s move from Manchester United to Paris St Germain appears all but done after the Argentina winger underwent a medical in Doha and expressed his happiness at the proposed switch.

The 27-year-old was given permission to fly to Qatar for talks with PSG officials after United agreed a €63m fee with the French champions for the winger.

Neither club has announced the deal but speaking to beIN Sports, Di Maria said: “I am very happy to join Paris Saint Germain.

“What I know about PSG is that they are a team who have won all possible titles in France last season. They’re very important.”

Terry wants to emulate Giggs

Chelsea defender John Terry has worked hard on his fitness in the last few years and wants to have a long playing career like former Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs, the former England captain said.

“In the last four or five years I’ve done a lot of extra work, not just at the training ground,” Terry told Sky Sports News.

“Putting the effort in the gym, training ground, off the pitch and eat the right food, I’m hoping to carry on as long as possible.

“There’s an opportunity you see with players like Giggs of playing until a very big age.”

Goetze unclear about future at Bayern

A year after scoring the winning goal for Germany in the World Cup final, Mario Goetze has an uncertain road ahead of him with his future at Bayern Munich up in the air.

The midfielder, who was on target in a 3-0 win over Milan in a pre-season tournament in Munich on Tuesday, said his two years at Bayern had been far from successful despite winning consecutive league titles.

“I played a pretty good game today. Now we will see what will happen,” he told reporters.

“It is clear that the last two years were not that easy,” said the 23-year-old, who had joined from rivals Borussia Dortmund in a huge transfer in 2013.

Bournemouth seal Tomlin deal

Bournemouth have signed forward Lee Tomlin from Championship side Middlesbrough on a three-year contract as they continue to spruce up their squad for their maiden season in the Premier League.

Bournemouth did not disclose the financial terms of the deal but media reports said the transfer fee was in the region of £3 million.

“Lee is a player who we are excited about and will get fans off their seats,” Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club’s website.

“We believe he is ready to make the step up and look forward to seeing him play in the Premier League.”

Gareth Bale happy at Real Madrid

Gareth Bale insisted he was happy at Real Madrid after playing a starring role in the 2-0 win over former club Tottenham at the Audi Cup in Munich.

The Welshman has come in for some criticism from the fans in the Spanish capital since his £85.3m world record move two years ago and has often been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Former Red Devils captain Bryan Robson has been one of the cheerleaders for a move to Old Trafford but, after scoring the second goal for Real on Tuesday night, Bale made it clear he is still very settled in Spain.

“I am confident anyway, but it’s great to have the support of the manager and the president and, hopefully, I can repay them now with goals and trophies,” he told national newspapers.

Solskjaer in talks with Toronto – agent

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in talks to become the manager of Major League Soccer outfit Toronto FC, the agent of the former Cardiff City boss has said.

Asked by newspaper Dagbla-det if Solskjaer was talking to the Canadian club, Jim Solbakken replied: “Yes.”

He did not go into any further details about the negotiations.

The 42-year-old former Manchester United striker was sacked by Cardiff in September last year following relegation from the Premier League in 2014 and a poor start to the subsequent season in the second tier.

Toronto FC are fifth in the Eastern Conference of the MLS.

Westermann linked with Juve

The agent of former Hamburg defender Heiko Westermann has confirmed that Italy champions Juventus have shown an interest in the 31-year-old.

The former Germany international is currently a free agent and he may be the man to fill a void in the Bianconeri’s defence this season. With Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli currently sidelined due to injury, Juve’s interest in Westermann is intensifying.

“There are talks and Juventus has actually been interested for a long time now,” said Westermann’s agent Reza Fazeli to the Hamburger Abendblatt.

“It’s been a long and lasting interest, but we’re only sticking to the facts and are not getting ahead of ourselves.”
