Bologna have reached an agreement with Metalist Kharkiv to sign Argentinian striker Jonathan Cristaldo on loan with the option to buy.

The 24-year-old has impressed since joining the Ukrainian Premier League side in 2011-12, scoring 27 goals in 62 appearances.

Cristaldo joins Stefano Pioli’s Serie A outfit in a bid to provide firepower after a slow start to the campaign with one point from their opening two matches.

A statement on bolognafc.it read: “Bologna FC 1909 announ-ces that it has reached an agreement with FK Metalist for the transfer to attacker Jonathan Ezequiel Cristaldo.

“The player comes to Bologna on loan with the option to buy.”

Cheryshev opts for Spain’s Sevilla

Sevilla have agreed a deal to sign Russia forward Denis Cheryshev on loan from Real Madrid for this season, Los Rojiblancos confirmed on their official website.

The 22-year-old, who scored 11 goals in 34 matches from Mad-rid’s B side Castilla last term while making one appearance for the first team, passed his medical yesterday.

Cheryshev made his debut for Russia in a friendly against the United States last year and has won two caps to date. He also has Spanish nationality.

Striker Iturbe joins Verona

Hellas Verona have signed Argentinian forward Juan Iturbe on a season-long loan deal from Porto.

The 20-year-old, who spent time on loan with River Plate in his home nation earlier this year, will bolster coach Andrea Mandorlini’s ranks at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi as Verona embark on a first season in Serie A for 11 years.

A short statement on Hellas’ official website announced Iturbe’s arrival in Verona and confirmed the deal struck with Portuguese champions Porto includes an option to buy the right-footed winger.

Chelsea’s Atsu on loan to Vitesse

Vitesse Arnhem have taken Ghanaian international Christian Atsu on loan from Chelsea for the season, the Dutch club said.

The 21-year-old winger, who played in January’s Africa Cup finals, completed his move to Chelsea from FC Porto on Sunday and was immediately sent to Vitesse to gain experience in the Netherlands.

Atsu, who media reports said cost four million euros, is the fifth player from Chelsea playing at Vitesse this season.

Cristian Cuevas and Lucas Piazon moved last month and Patrick van Aanholt and Gael Kakuta are spending a second season there on loan from the Premier League side.

Nuremberg seal Hasebe deal

Makoto Hasebe has moved within the Bundesliga from Wolfsburg to Nuremberg, where he has signed a three-year contract. The Japan captain, 29, will fill the void left by the sale of Timmy Simons to Club Brugge this summer.

“After the unexpected transfer of Timmy, we had thought at length about how we could compensate for his loss,” said Nurem-berg’s director of sport Martin Bader.

Hasebe moved to the Bundesliga in 2008, winning the title at the end of his first season with Wolfsburg and emerging as an important member of Felix Magath’s squad, with qualities Nur-emberg coach Michael Wiesinger is now looking forward to witnessing first hand.

Pato on the mark for Corinthians

Alexandre Pato ended a barren run by scoring twice, the second from an almost impossible angle, to set Corinthians on the way to a comprehensive 4-0 win over rapidly-fading Flamengo in the Brazilian championship on Sunday.

The former Milan forward, who has been jeered off several times recently, opened the scoring when he tapped in a pass at the far post.

On 32 minutes, a Douglas pass split the Flamengo defence and sent Pato racing clear.

He rounded keeper Felipe, seemed to have gone too wide but somehow managed to chip the ball between a defender and a post from near the goal-line.

Corinthians moved up to fifth with 29 points from 17 games, two behind leaders Cruzeiro.

Atletico complete double signing

Atletico Madrid have beaten the Spanish transfer deadline to complete the double signing of Toby Alderweireld and Josuha Guilavogui for undisclosed fees.

Belgium international centre-back Alderweireld, 24, leaves Ajax to sign a four-year contract at the Vicente Calderon, where he is joined by former St Etienne defensive midfielder Guilavogui.

The 22-year-old Guilavogui is a France international and commits his future to Atleti for the next five seasons.

Alderweireld told clubatleticodemadrid.com: “I wanted to sign for one of the best clubs in Europe. I’m happy to be part of this club.”
