Borussia Moenchengladbach are not interested in Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.

The 25-year-old Dane has one year to run on his current deal, and has attracted interest from a host of clubs across Europe, including German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, scout Ove Flindt-Bjerg says Bendtner is not on Gladbach’s radar.

“We do not look for the type of player like Bendtner,” he said.

“We are looking for other types in the transfer window.”

Bendtner spent last season out on loan at Juventus, but suffered a frustrating campaign, clocking up just nine appearances in the Serie A.

Marseille hunting for Gervinho

Gervinho, the Arsenal striker, has attracted interest from Marseille.

The 26-year-old has failed to make much of an impact since his move from Lille back in 2011, and has bore the brunt of the fans frustrations this season.

However, that has not deterred Marseille, who will compete in the Champions League next season, and assistant boss Franck Passi believes Gervinho will improve their squad.

“This is a profile that interests us, yes,” Passi told reporters.

“We want flank players, with dribbling, passing and scoring and Gervinho has this profile.”

Heitinga mulls his future at Everton

Everton defender John Heitinga has hinted at a return to Holland as uncertainty surrounds his future at Goodison Park.

The 29-year old made 30 appearances for the Toffees last season but it remains unclear as to whether he will feature in the plans of new manager Roberto Martinez. Heitinga has one year remaining on his contract at Everton and he admitted that he is likely to be moving on.

He said: “I don’t want to extend my contract because it would mean Everton will be my final club outside Holland.

“I have played in Spain and England, so maybe it’s time for somewhere else.”

Coloccini opts to stay at Newcastle

Fabricio Coloccini has declared that he will respect Newcastle’s desire to keep him and stay at St James’ Park for another season.

Coloccini’s future was plunged into doubt in January when it emerged that he was keen to return to Argentina.

But, he has now considered the matter carefully and given Newcastle a huge boost by pledging to repay manager Alan Pardew for the faith shown in him.

“I’m a grateful person and Newcastle have given me the opportunity of playing in the Premier League, which is the elite of football, so I will stay at Newcastle,” he said.

“My desire is to move back to Argentina but that’s not going to happen next season.”

FIFA set to probe Mascherano red card

FIFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Argentina captain Javier Mascherano after he was sent off for kicking the driver of a medical cart in a World Cup qualifier against Ecuador last week.

The Barcelona midfielder was shown a red card by Paraguayan referee Enrique Caceres with four minutes to go in Quito after the player lost his temper with the driver who he thought was going too fast in transporting him off the pitch injured.

Mascherano had to be calmed down by Argentina’s support staff as he climbed off the cart when it stopped at the side of the pitch amid angry scenes involving a number of players from both teams.

Southampton swoop for Lyon’s Lovren

Southampton have signed Croatia defender Dejan Lovren for an initial transfer fee of eight million euros, his Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyon said.

Lovren has agreed a four-year deal with the English Premier League club and the fee could eventually rise to €10 million if bonuses are added.

Lovren made 102 appearances for Lyon after leaving Dynamo Zagreb in January 2010.

He helped them win the French Cup last season and finish third to qualify for the Champions League.

Lovren was left out of the side towards the end of the campaign, however, after criticising the club and the management team.

Marchisio flattered by Man. United link

Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio admitted he is “proud” to be linked with Manchester United as speculation over his future mounts.

The 27-year-old, currently in Brazil with Italy for the Con-federations Cup, is thought to be on the radar of the Premier League champions and big-spending Monaco, but no offers have been made yet.

Marchisio said: “There are things to be proud of, but I am not sure if they are true.

“Surely, I have not heard from anyone at Manchester United or Monaco.

“When I talk with my club after the Confederations Cup is over everything will become clearer.”
