Portsmouth fans will be given a free 15 per cent stake in the club as part of a revised offer for the League One outfit by football financier Keith Harris.

Harris’s offer, made public yesterday, comes after Ports-mouth’s administrators PKF confirmed earlier this month they were considering a bid he was fronting.

The Football League res-ponded then by announcing the south coast would be expelled if the Pompey Supporters’ Trust – PKF’s preferred bidder – was not successful.

However, yesterday the Harris-led bid announced 15 per cent of the shares in the club will be allocated free to a group made up of supporters.

Germany arrange Paraguay friendly

Germany have organised a friendly international against Paraguay in Kaiserslautern on August 14.

The match will form part of their preparations for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“The game against Paraguay is a welcome affair for us ahead of the World Cup in order to familiarise ourselves with the typical South American style... and players with outstanding technical skills,” coach Joachim Loew said.

Trezeguet puts River joint top

Striker David Trezeguet volleyed the only goal as River Plate beat Estudiantes 1-0 to join Lanus as the only teams with two wins from two matches in Argentina’s championship.

With half an hour gone at a packed Monumental on Sunday, midfielder Ariel Rojas crossed from the left and Trezeguet met the ball with a first-time shot that hit the ground and bounced over goalkeeper Agustin Silva into the net.

“It wasn’t the perfect match but there was a lot of enthusiasm from the players.

“It’s a great personal satisfaction to score again at the Monumental and in front of this great crowd,” Trezeguet said after his first league goal since September.

Benitez and Terry deny dispute

Chelsea interim boss Rafael Benitez and John Terry are adamant they are not in dispute after the captain made a goalscoring return to the starting XI.

Following a knee injury sustained in November, Terry made just his third start under Benitez in Sunday’s 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round replay win over Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

Benitez and Terry felt the need to rebuff a report of a disagreement between the pair.

“He knows that the main thing is the team winning and if he can play, much better,” Benitez said.

Terry said: “It’s good to have competition. The manager knows me and I want to play. I have been out for two or three months, but the other two centre-backs have been doing well.”

Neymar sent off for fighting

Brazil forward Neymar was sent off after clashing with an opponent, the fifth red card of the 21-year-old’s career, as Santos lost 3-1 to Ponte Preta in the Paulista championship.

Regarded as the best player of his generation, Neymar became involved in a row with Ponte Preta defender Arthur just before half-time in Sunday’s match.

Both players argued with the referee and were sent off.

“I don’t know what happened. We were challenging for the ball, I got kicked and was sent off,” Neymar told reporters after the match.

“Neither of us should have been sent off. Football is getting really boring, for the players, supporters and the television viewers.”

Kazim-Richards backing Gunners

Arsenal fan Colin Kazim-Richards admits it was a bitter-sweet moment to score the goal for Blackburn which knocked the Gunners out of the FA Cup.

Kazim-Richards, 26, netted a scrappy effort on 72 minutes at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, which was about Rovers’ only shot on target.

Kazim-Richards, though, will always be a Gunner.

“I was here as a schoolboy, so my connections are to Arsenal, I am an Arsenal fan,” he said.

“I will be supporting them against Bayern Munich. I will have my Arsenal top on, and I will be there in front of the TV, but you know this is work.”

Liverpool’s Borini out for the season

Liverpool forward Fabio Borini is likely to miss the rest of the season after sustaining a suspected dislocated shoulder in the 5-0 win over Swansea.

The Italian came on as a late substitute but fell awkwardly soon after, with his screams audible from the stands.

Borini immediately came off and went straight down the tunnel as Liverpool finished the match with 10 men.

Borini has not had much luck with injuries after arriving in the summer from Roma, having missed three months after breaking a foot in October.

“It’s unfortunate. It’s actually the other shoulder to a similar injury he had when he was at Chelsea,” Rodgers said.
