Former Bolton defender Ivan Campo has volunteered his services to help the managerless Championship club.

The Spaniard made 194 appearances for Bolton between 2002 and 2008 but has no formal coaching experience since retiring from playing two years later.

In a stream of posts on his Twitter page, Campo urged Reebok Stadium chairman Phil Gartside to contact him in the wake of Owen Coyle’s departure.

“Only I need to receive a call of Phil Gartside and I will go immeditaly to help the club with my experience,” he said.

Gers seek funds

Rangers are to seek admission to the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange, the Glasgow club said yesterday.

The Division Three club hope the move can raise up to £20 million as they continue to re-order their finances following the liquidation of the ‘oldco’ club and the acquisition of its assets by Charles Green’s consortium in the summer.

The club hope their admission to the AIM can be completed by the end of the year.

Rangers said the money raised would be invested in the development of the club as they aim to move through the Scottish Football League and reclaim the top-flight place they lost during this year’s financial turmoil.

Rooney to become father a second time

Wayne Rooney is to become a father for the second time in May, the England and Manchester United footballer’s wife, Coleen, has revealed on Twitter.

She told her 840,000 followers that the couple were “thrilled” to be expecting a brother or sister for Kai, who was born in Nov. 2009.

“A few people guessed, so news is out ha!! Me, Wayne and Kai are thrilled that we are expecting a new addition to our family around May time,” she tweeted.

The childhood sweethearts, now both 26, wed in June 2008, but their relationship has come under scrutiny in the past following reports that Rooney used prostitutes.

Lampard and Bertrand ruled out

England duo Frank Lampard and Ryan Bertrand have been ruled out of their country’s 2014 World Cup qualifier at home to San Marino today.

Lampard, 34, injured his knee while playing in Chelsea’s 4-1 win at home to Norwich on Saturday and had to come off during the second half.

Bertrand, a team-mate of Lampard’s at Chelsea, has been unable to train this week due to a throat infection and the left-back was ruled out after the illness failed to clear up.

Both players will return to Chelsea for treatment before reporting back to the England camp on Sunday for assessment before Tuesday’s trip to Poland.

Dzeko: I want to stay at Man. City

Striker Edin Dzeko insists he has no interest in leaving Manchester City.

The 26-year-old, who joined from Wolfsburg last January, is once again being linked with a move away from the club, despite an impressive start to the season, with City seemingly scouting around for striking reinforcements.

“Every time I see a paper, for what seems like a year or more there is a story saying that I am leaving City, or that I want to go,” Dzeko said.

“But I’ve never said that so the stories don’t come from me. I’ve always wanted to stay at City and fight for my place. My motto has always been ‘Never give up’.”

Muamba weighs up FIFA options

Cardiac arrest survivor Fabrice Muamba has been invited by FIFA president Sepp Blatter to Zurich to discuss a possible role with world soccer’s governing body.

The former Bolton midfielder collapsed on the pitch during an FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham in March. He recovered but was forced to retire as a player in August.

Muamba said he now found going to matches tough emotionally, but was attracted to a career in sports politics.

“I like this kind of side of it, making decisions,” the former England Under-21 player said.

“I have a meeting with Sepp Blatter next week, hopefully he can get a job for me.”

Rodgers gives backing to Reina

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has given goalkeeper Jose Reina his full backing after the Spain international’s indifferent start to the season.

The 30-year-old made glaring mistakes against the likes of Hearts, Arsenal and Norwich City but the Reds boss is not concerned.

“I can’t speak highly enough of Pepe. He’s a keeper who has impressed me,” he said.

“Pepe has been here for a number of years and has proved himself over a long period of time. Like all the other players here he’s trying to improve.

“As a team, we just need to cut out the kind of mistakes we’ve been making. If we do that then everyone will benefit from that, including Pepe.”
