La Gazzetta dello Sport yesterday revealed that Robin van Persie was in Turin last week to discuss a possible transfer from Arsenal to Juventus.

According to the report, the Dutchman was toured around the new stadium and also the club’s Vinovo training base.

It is being claimed that Juve have also offered the striker a contract worth €6m a year.

Earlier this month, Van Persie’s agent had also been in Turin to discuss possible contract terms for his player.

Juve would still have to agree a fee with Arsenal given that Van Persie is only contracted to the London club until June 2013.

Milan confirm Ferreira signing

Milan have confirmed they have signed Brazil Under-20 goal-keeper Gabriel Ferreira from Cruzeiro.

The 19-year-old will become the Rossoneri’s third-string goalkeeper behind Christian Abbiati and Marco Amelia.

“Gabriel will be registered in the Lega Serie A in the next few weeks and will join the team in pre-season training on July 9,” a statement from Milan read.

Ferreira, who holds a Euro-pean passport, started his career in Cruzeiro’s youth section before being promoted to the senior side.

England trio set for UEFA honour

David Beckham, Peter Shilton and Bobby Charlton will all be presented with a special cap by UEFA ahead of England’s friendly with Belgium today week.

European football’s governing body want to honour every player across the continent who has reached the milestone of playing more than 100 times for their country and the Wembley encounter – Roy Hodgson’s first game at home – has been chosen as the designated game for England.

In addition, the widows of both Bobby Moore and Billy Wright will be present to accept the honour on behalf of their late husbands.

Borriello forced to wait by Juventus

Juventus have not decided if they will offer Marco Borriello a permanent contract this sum-mer.

The forward joined Juve on a six-month loan deal from Roma in January and scored two goals in 13 league appearances for the Bianconeri this season.

Juve have until next month to exercise an option to buy the 29-year-old’s full rights for eight million euros.

“We brought Borriello in Jan-uary because we needed to reinforce the team in that de-partment,” Juve general director Giuseppe Marotta said.

“Now we have an option to buy him and we are evaluating it. We will see what happens.”

Aurelio back home

Gremio have announced the signing of Fabio Aurelio after the defender was released by Liverpool.

The 32-year-old left-back returns to his native Brazil after 12 years in Europe, split evenly between a six-year spell at Val-encia and his time at Anfield.

Aurelio was troubled by injuries while at Liverpool and was allowed to leave at the end of the 2009/10 season before rejoining the club that August after Roy Hodgson became the manager.

Further injury problems followed, however, and he barely featured in the last 12 months under Kenny Dalglish, making just two Premier League appearances in the entire 2011/12 campaign.

Parma put high price on Giovinco

Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi believes Sebastian Giovinco is worth at least €40m.

The striker is part-owned by Juventus and has been strongly linked with a move elsewhere this summer. The 25-year-old has been linked with a return to Juventus while he is also a reported target of Barcelona, Manchester City and Inter.

“The market dictates prices, but I have no fear in saying that Giovinco is worth as much as Javier Pastore,” Ghirardi said.

“I think he is better than the Argentinian and he is as good as Alexis Sanchez.”

Pastore joined Paris SG from Palermo last summer for €43 million, while Barcelona signed Sanchez from Udinese for €37.5 million.

Grosso wants team ‘down-under’

Fabio Grosso, viewed as a villain by Australian fans for robbing the Socceroos of a quarter-final berth at the 2006 World Cup, wants to play in the Australian A-League.

Grosso, 34, who has spent the past three seasons playing for Juventus, is looking to wind down his playing career, ac-cording to his agent.

Agent Lou Sticca said he was negotiating with some A-League clubs about the prospect of the former Italy defender finishing his career in Australia.

Grosso became “public enemy number one” in Australia for what many believe was a dive in the last minute of Italy’s round of 16 match against the Guus Hiddink-coached Soccer-oos in Kaiserslautern almost six years ago.
